My name is Margaret . I was born in England and moved to the US when I was only 6 years old. I came to this country on the Queen Mary. I wish I could say I enjoyed the trip. It was this trip that taught me I needed to take dramamine from here on out.
Living in England you need to wear sweaters and coats most of the time, therefore my mother took up knitting to clothe my brother and me.
She tediously taught me to knit and purl, the two basic stitches. I can honestly say I haven't moved too far from that. After all my mothers teaching I found it was too time consuming for me to enjoy to completion. I was always on the run. I was, as my brother would say, somewhat of a tomboy.
Later in life, the skills my mum taught somehow came together. I now love to knit and chrochet. I find the craft to be somewhat hipnotic and relaxing.
